Spring cleaning: A Skin Care Refresher | Dermaquip

It’s been nearly a year since our last post on the Dermaquip blog – we’ve been busy, but we are excited to announce that we are back on our regularly scheduled posting. Before we get into this month’s post, it’s worth mentioning that if you have any skin-care related questions that you want answered to reach out to us – we want to help answer them!

It’s springtime, which means folks are doing some spring cleaning around the house. It also happens that getting rid of more things and turning to a more minimal lifestyle is becoming more popular (no doubt with the help of Marie Kondo). But cleaning doesn’t have to just be limited to things – it’s also a great time to review your skin care regimen. Let’s go through some of the essentials.

Exfoliation

While it isn’t necessary to exfoliate your skin every single day (in fact, we would recommend doing it once a week), it’s an extremely important part of a healthy skin regimine. The idea here is you’re removing dead skin cells so that your skin can breathe more and be healthier. You can exfoliate too much, which is why we would only recommend doing it once a week.

Cleanse, cleanse, cleanse

Cleansing your skin is an important part of any healthy skin regimen. Why, you ask? You want to make sure and remove any oils, dirt, or other unwanted material from your skin. Just think about it – you are walking around all day, sweating, working, etc. During that time your skin picks up random little materials. The goal here is to make sure you cleanse your skin from those materials and allow your skin to breathe and absorb more nutrients instead.

Time to tone

Cleansing is great (and important), but if you wear any sort of makeup you’ll need to tone to make sure you remove any of that residue as it is not good for your skin for long periods of time. Besides removing some of the heavy stuff, tanning also helps with making your pores tighter and stronger. It is a great habit to get into and an essential part of any healthy skin care regiment.

Moisturize

Now that you’ve cleaned off and toned your skin, it’s important to moisturize it with a healthy nutritional-filled moisturizer. The important part here is to make sure the moisturizer you get hydrates your skin, and doesn’t leave it feel too greasy or oily.

To sum it all up

Now is a great time to look over your skin care routine and optimize it – we encourage you to take a look at your own. In the meantime, let us know if you have any specific questions for us at Dermaquip and don’t forget to check out our products.
