Well, it’s 2018 and the Dermaquip team is back from the holiday. First off, we’d like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! As everyone is getting settled in from vacation, we thought it would be the perfect time to write an article that is a refresher on skin care basics.
In other words, what are some of those “must have” actions in your skin care regime that are foundational to healthy flourishing skin?
Make sure that makeup comes off before sleep
One of the top mistakes that people make with their skin care routine is simply not taking off any product (particularly makeup) before they hit the hay. Leaving makeup on throughout the evening doesn’t allow your skin to breathe naturally, and remain clean during sleep.
Stay hydrated
And no – pop, coffee, and alcohol don’t count as staying hydrated. In fact, they count as the opposite! If you do anything different in 2018, you should drink more water. There are numerous health benefits associated with drinking water (including healthier skin), so you have nothing to lose on this one.
Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize
AC, heaters, and even hot air outside can lead to skin being too dry. The solution? Moisturizing! Make it a daily part of your routine. Try using products with less chemicals, and more natural ingredients. The goal is to keep your skin healthy by keeping it less dry.
Eat right
We’ve talked about the importance of a healthy diet to your skin before. The bottom line is: the more junk you eat, the more you will notice it impacting your skin. It might not be obvious at first, but you’d be surprised how much good it can do to simply drop pop or minimize the amount of caffeine you consume daily.
Conclusion
It doesn’t take a whole lot to start seeing some improvements to your skin. There is nothing significant about starting January first, so don’t worry if you need to start tomorrow. The important thing is that you do something! Also, don’t feel like you need to do all of the above at once – even one of the above can start having a positive impact on your life.
